Jean is an Associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice of Cavenagh Law.
Jean graduated from the University of Oxford with First Class Honours.
Jean has extensive experience in domestic litigation matters having begun her career in the Attorney-General’s Chambers of Singapore as a prosecutor and State Counsel, and thereafter serving as a Justices’ Law Clerk in the Supreme Court of Singapore.
Jean specializes in complex commercial disputes with a focus on cross-border, multi-party shareholder and joint venture disputes. She has worked on complex litigation matters spanning all levels of the Singapore Courts.
Jean is currently seconded to APG Investments Asia Limited (Hong Kong) as its specialist Consultant for contentious matters.
- Acting on behalf of a major pension fund administrator in a SIAC arbitration in relation to disputes arising out of its investment in Asia worth in excess of US$630 million. The dispute is governed by Singapore Law.
- Advising a major developer, owner and operator of hyperscale data centres on a potential arbitration in relation to disputes arising out of an investment in Asia worth in excess of US$315 million.
- Advising a global transport and logistics company in relation to disputes arising out of its takeover of a Singapore company worth in excess of S$83 million.
- Advising a consortium of Asian investors on disputes arising out of their investment into one of the largest floating offshore wind development projects in the world.
- Acting on behalf of German authorities in relation to the restraint of assets of up to €210 million linked to the Wirecard financial scandal under the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 2000.*
- Acting on behalf of Russian authorities in relation to the successful enforcement of a Russian confiscation order over assets of up to ₽11 billion under the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 2000. *
- Acting on behalf of Singapore authorities in the High Court of Singapore in relation to a wide-ranging judicial review challenge against a variety of policies, legislation and advisories enacted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, this is the largest COVID-19 challenge brought in Singapore. It was eventually withdrawn in its entirety after the majority of the applicants’ claims was successfully struck out.*
- Acting on behalf of Singapore authorities in the High Court of Singapore and the Court of Appeal in relation to the prosecution of contempt of court committed by the Chief Editor of a well-known alternative news website in Singapore.*
