Andre Sim is a Senior Associate in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice of Cavenagh Law LLP.
Andre has experience in both cross-border and domestic civil litigation, as well as international arbitration, with a particular focus on complex commercial disputes.
He is well-versed in trial, interlocutory, and appellate proceedings across a wide range of matters, particularly those involving commercial, contractual, tortious, and arbitration-related issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Andre served as a District Judge, an Assistant Registrar, and a Justices’ Law Clerk at the Supreme Court of Singapore. He was also a State Counsel at the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
Andre graduated with First Class Honours from University College London and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from New York University.
- Acting for a major pension fund in a SIAC arbitration concerning disputes arising from a cross-border investment in Asia valued in excess of US$480 million.
- Adjudicated a summary judgment application in the General Division of the High Court of Singapore (“GDHC”) involving a cross-border, commercial dispute over alleged breaches of a settlement agreement; later followed by the GDHC in [2024] SGHC 261*
- Adjudicated applications to discharge attachment orders in the District Court; published one of the first written judgments on the legal principles governing ‘garnishee’ proceedings under the Rules of Court 2021*
- Successfully defended proceedings for judicial review in the High Court of Singapore*
- Advised on a major multimillion dollar construction dispute with a large project consultancy company*
